Biography:
Biography:
Janet Schill is an Illinois-based artist whose work primarily includes enamels, printmaking, drawing, and mixed media. With more than 40 years of art experience, she brings a refined understanding of texture, color, and spatial composition to her practice. Raised in the river regions of Southern Illinois, Schill’s early exposure to natural landscapes and appreciation of nature continues to influence her exploration of both abstract and representational forms.
Her recent focus centers on glass enamels, building on decades of printmaking that included narrative screen prints, mono prints, and mixed media works. Schill draws inspiration from artists such as Martha Banyas, Georgia O’Keeffe, Clifford Still, and H.C. Westerman, integrating narrative elements, abstracted landscapes, and assemblage into her approach. She has an MFA from Northern Illinois University and has exhibited at institutions including the National Ornamental Metal museum, the National Museum of Mexican Art, Zygote Gallery, and Prospectus Gallery. Schill currently works from her studio in Riverside, Illinois in the Chicago suburbs.
