Jewelry Class using Metal Art Clay

I’ve been working with Art Metal Clay for a few years now and decide to have my high school and my Plymouth Place students learn on how to use metal clay. We looked at examples of finished metal clay jewelry pieces and watched a few videos on various techniques online. Then I showed them how to use the tools, how to condition the clay, how to roll out evenly, and how to finish and polish their pieces. From there each student either worked in polymer clay to come up with their designs or sketched it out on paper. Because my Plymouth students don’t have a kiln, I took their finished pieces home and fired them in my studio. Our first pieces were copper clay and we will be finishing up with silver clay.

Happy Printing

What a great class and wonderful students. The 4 week print class at Expressions Studio covered relief rubber cut printing, monotype printing using watercolor and markers and small “ez screen” printing. Though this group were all beginners, they all brought an eagerness to learn, were very productive and had a great time! Who knows we may be doing a printmaking 102?

Printmaking 101 : Small Prints

It all begins with an idea.

I’ll be teaching a 3 week class at Expressions Studio in Oak Park, IL, which will introduce 3 printing techniques: monotype, screen print and rubber cuts. Students will bring a 5x7 or 4x6 image to work from and images produced can be entered in Expressions Studio Small Print Show. (Please see our website)
